If you want to know more about the new feature of Background App Refresh, you have to first understand what this feature is all about. This feature is one with which the apps are updating or getting messages or status updates from internet even when you are not using them. They run and do these tasks without your knowledge and permission. This not only slows your phone but it also uses your data plan. Therefore it is important that you have to decide on the Apps which should be refreshing automatically and which apps don’t need to be refreshed.

1. You have to check and find the Apps which are automatically refreshing in the background without your information: You may find that certain Apps are useful and are continuously used by you, and then they need to be refreshed. But there are certain Apps which you only use once in a while, so it is better to turn the refresh button off for those Apps. You can click on ‘Settings’ and then click on ‘General’. After that tap on ‘Background App Refresh’. You will see a list of all the Apps in your phone. Switch the button in front of those apps to ‘off ‘so that they will stop refreshing automatically.
2. You will also have to check the Apps who are using your phone battery: if you click on ‘Settings’ and then tap on ‘Battery’, you will find the battery usage section. Tapping on the option “Last 24 hours” will offer you a look about which apps are using your phone battery the most.This way you can switch the refresh button’ off’ for those apps.
3. All your iPhone Apps which are third party can be turned off: you can also switch off the feature of Background App Refresh so that no App can be able to automatically refresh in background of your phone. If you switch this feature off, then it does not mean that the Apps which you allowed to refresh won’t be able to that. The previous settings will not change when you switch this feature off.
4. Stop the Mail App from checking the account for new messages: if you activate the low power mode in your iPhone by tapping on ‘General’ and then tap on ‘Battery’ and then activate the Low Power Mode. This way the Mail App will not check the account automatically. There will not be a problem for you to check your mails, but the App won’t be able to do it by itself.
